Red Hat acquisition of JBoss has closed on 5th june
here Marc F. words:Hello JBoss Community,
I am writing to you today to announce that the Red Hat acquisition of JBoss has closed and we now are officially a part of the largest independent open source company. I am excited about this news and the great opportunity that it represents. We are entering a new era in the technology industry that puts customers back in charge of their destiny, where innovation and value replace lock-in and costly proprietary-vendor software licenses. Together, we believe we can change the economics of the industry, delivering unmatched value to our customers and partners by creating better software faster, systematically driving down costs and simplifying IT.
The goal of JBoss has always been to promote and accelerate the adoption of open source and the Professional Open Source Model. This is a goal we will continue as part of a larger Red Hat company. Professional Open Source has never been in better hands than it is today. Together, we will invest even more in building innovative and standards-based Java Middleware products, expediting the expansion and enablement of our certified partner eco-system, expanding our services offering and coverage, and improving our customers’ ability to manage enterprise deployments running on our software.
For our customers and partners, please be aware that all existing contracts will be honored for the life of the contract, under the agreed upon terms of the deal. Additionally, your existing contacts for sales and support will remain the same for the immediate term. We are looking forward to more tightly integrating into the Red Hat global support organization and we will have more news on this for you shortly. If you have any questions, please contact your JBoss sales representative or visit our website: www.jboss.com/redhat for more information.
I would like to invite you all to attend our JBoss World user conference being held on June 12-15 at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. There, Matthew Szulik, Red Hat CEO and Chairman, and I will begin to announce more specific integration plans and further touch upon our plans to drive additional customer value by greater simplification and acceleration of application development, testing, deployment, and management. We will have some interesting news. Stay tuned.
Lastly, I would like to ask for your help by telling us how we can serve you better. We have created a survey where you can tell us about your use of Red Hat and/or JBoss products and services and, more importantly, what you’d like to see from us. Please take a minute to complete the survey located at www.jboss.com/redhat_survey. Your input will really help us as JBoss and Red Hat begin our new life together.
| Oh, and remember we love you (and so does Red
Hat), marcf |
